ServPro of West Chester Offers Specialty Cleaning Services
Michael DiBartolomeo enjoys his job, even though it involves some of life’s darkest moments.
The marketing manager for ServPro of West Chester Inc. says the franchise was established in 1990 to provide fire and water damage, property restoration, mold remediation and specialty cleaning services to the region.
“Fire, smoke, soot or some kind of water damage – we go into a place, clean it, deodorize and put it back together,” he says. “We essentially make like it never even happened. ServPro takes something that is essentially destroyed and rebuilds it.”
DiBartolomeo says if a room gets dirty, the company springs into action.
“We clean carpets, drapes, upholstery, solid floor surfaces, refinish hardwood floors, clean walls and ceilings,” he says. “For example, when someone turns on their heater for the first time in the fall and didn’t have it cleaned, black soot can blow all over the house. Or pipes break in the winter, or people come home from vacation to a basement full of water thanks to a second-floor toilet that had a pinhole leak in the pipe. We deal with it all.”
ServPro also does restoration specialty cleaning, including sanding floors, polishing old staircases and repainting intricate doors and moldings. In addition, the company attends to vandalism cleanups, such as a rock being thrown through a glass front door.
“That glass needs to be vacuumed correctly so it doesn’t get tracked indoors into the carpet,” DiBartolomeo says. “So if something gets ruined or broken, we bring it back to life.”
The company also deals with death, too.
“For instance, when elderly people living by themselves pass away and nobody finds them for a week, we get called in to attend to the decomposition issues,” he says. “Somebody does those things, and ServPro does.
One thing about this job – it’s interesting.”
